In Loving Memory of Margaret Cruz Serna

Margaret Cruz Serna age 50 of Raton, NM passed away on July 24, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.


Margaret was born on May 10th, 1967 to Julian and Mary Cruz of Maxwell NM. Margaret married Samuel Serna on October 10, 1985, and were married for 31 wonderful years upon passing. Margaret and Sam went on to have 2 sons, Lucas and Adrian Serna, and were blessed with 3 grandsons, Alex, Lucas Jr. and Victor.

Margaret served proudly as a teacher for 10 years, and worked within the school system for many years prior to that. Margaret was devoted to her Catholic faith and instilled the same in her family. Margaret was an avid fisherwoman, and loved to be outdoors. Most importantly she was a dedicated mother and the best wife anyone could ask for.



Margaret is survived by her husband, sons, grandsons, parents and numerous brothers, sisters, and extended family members. 

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary for Margaret Cruz Serna will be on Friday August 4th, 2017 at 5:30 P:M: at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, NM, recited by Deacon Tom Alderette, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 6:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich officiating. A private inurnment for the family of Margaret Cru Serna will follow at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all their family and friends for their overwhelming support which have been shown towards them. We are truly blessed.

A family gathering and dinner will follow immediately after the services at the Parish Hall.


Arrangements for Margaret Cruz Serna are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
