In Loving Memory of William Orla (Bill) Abshere

William Orla Abshere went to be with his “sweetie” Alice on December 6, 2016.
Bill was born in Anadarko, OK on April 21, 1923 to Caleb and Florence (Gibson) Abshere.

abshere-bBill moved to Raton, NM when he was in high school for health reasons. He paid for his trip by selling his hunting rifle and regretted it ever since. Bill finished his education in Raton and graduated from Raton High School in 1945. He then went to work for Safeway for a few years, where he found himself at a holiday party and met the love of his life, Alice. Bill and Alice were married on June 12, 1949 and remained happily in love ever since. From their love came two sons, Bruce and Blaine.

In 1958 Bill and Alice became co-owners of A&M Repair Company and were a successful team. They made many lifelong friends along the way. Bill retired in 1992 and Bruce and Debby resumed the business legacy.

Bill was a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge where he and Alice attended many functions over the years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carol Abshere, sisters Mary Carmon and Betty Biggerstaff. His love Alice on October 15, 2016.

Bill is survived by son Bruce and his wife, Debby Abshere and Blaine and his wife Rhonda Abshere. Grandchildren, LaDonna Abshere Moltrer (Ray), KC Abshere, Angie Abshere, Campbell (Josh), Lindsay Abshere, Cole Abshere, and Nolan Abshere. Great Grandchildren, Tyler Moltrer, Trystan Moltrer. Blake Campbell and Brantley William Campbell.

A Celebration of Love for Bill Abshere will be at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel in Raton, NM at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2016. Burial will follow at Mt.Calvary Cemetery in Raton, NM.

 

Pall Bearers will be Cole Abshere, Nolan Abshere, Ray Moltrer, Tyler Moltrer, Trystan Moltrer and George Yaksich. Honorary Pall Bearer, Josh Campbell.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the MCMC Auxiliary. You are invited to join the family after the service at the convention center(downstairs) in Raton.
A&M Repair Company will be closed on Friday, December 9, 2016 in memory of Bill.

Arrangements and Celebration of Love for Bill O. Abshere are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton, NM.
