Raton Veterans Park Gets New Flagpoles

Raton Memorial Veterans Park has a new and improved look as City of Raton Public Works staff installed 8 brand-new flagpoles for the flags at the park located on Legion Drive.

Raton Parks and Rec Director Jarod Chatterly said the poles were purchased and installed for a cost of about $2,500 with help from the Raton Elks Lodge #865, The Raton VFW post #1793 and the DAV.  The American flag pole is 20 feet tall and the other seven service and POW flags will rest on 15 foot poles.

The park was dedicated in October of 2015 and is to recognize those from Raton who served in all branches of service.  Brick pavers are still available for purchase for $50 to recognize those from Raton who served our country.  Contact Raton Parks and Rec or Ron Chavez for information or to purchase a brick.
