In Loving Memory of George Wallace Leavitt

George Wallace Leavitt, age 82 passed away on August 29, 2016 in Raton.

 

George was born on May 29, 1934 in Shell, Wyoming.

 

George graduated with his associates degree in accounting. In 1962, he moved to Utah and accepted a position as a driller where he worked for more than 55 years.

 

George was a great family man and a loving father. He married Melody, January 5, 1960 in Aztec, N.M. where they shared 56 wonderful years together.

 

In his younger years, George was a social active man who was deeply involved in FFA, 4H, Church activities, songwriting and playing guitar.

 

In his later years, he was part of the 82nd Airborne Rangers and received numerous safety awards in his career choice.

 

George greatly enjoyed reading, dancing and time spent with family. His family and friends will always remember him as an honorable and loving person.

 

George is survived by his wife Melody Bronson-Leavitt, siblings Esther and Gladys, children Georgette and husband Terry of Utah, Amelia of N.M., Brinton of N.M., Joseph of Idaho, Matthew of Utah, La Randa and husband Erik Utah and Jameson and wife Kaycee of N.M., his 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents Brinton and Amelia Leavitt, daughter Georgene Leavitt and son Mark Leavitt. 

 
Funeral Services for George will take place on September 3, 2016 at 2 P.M. in the chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home with Jared Chaterley officiating all are welcome to attend and celebrate Georges life. Rite of committal and interment will follow at the Fairmont Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone for their support. Flower donations for the family can be sent to melody Leavitt at P.O. Box 184, Raton, N.M. Funeral arrangements for George Wallace Leavitt are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
