In Loving Memory of Joseph Reyes

Joseph Reyes, 71, of Trinidad passed away August 19, 2016.

 

The second son of Helen and Raymond (Baca) Reyes, Joe attended Trinidad Catholic High School and then moved to Pueblo to attend the University of Southern Colorado where he received his BA.  He was married at Holy Trinity Church to his high school sweetheart, Charlene Villani, and together they had two daughters.

 

Joe Reyes PicJoe spent many years working for BNSF Railroad as a dispatcher. After moving back to his hometown of Trinidad, he managed Trinity Credit Union and went on to be the proprietor of his grandmother’s business, the Northside Tavern.

 

For many years, Joe was an active member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was also an avid bowler and traveled to various cities to compete in tournaments. He enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, and both playing and watching sports. He especially loved watching the Denver Broncos.

 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Helen (Baca) and Raymond Reyes sister Dolly Martinez, sister-in-law Judy Micheliza and nephew John Reyes.

 

He is survived by his brothers John and Richard (Jerri) Reyes, Charlene Villani, daughters Lynette (Raymond Burley) and Melanie Reyes, grandchildren Caitlyn (Alec) Howard and Desiree (John) Davidson, great-grandchildren Kylee, Daron, John, and Bennett, brother-in-law Thomas Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Joe passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones after fighting a series of illnesses.

 

Rosary will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 7 pm at the Comi Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10 AM at Sebastiani Gym.

Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

 

The family welcomes you to wear Bronco attire to the service, in honor of Joe’s favorite team.
