In Loving Memory of Mary G. Martinez

Mary G. Martinez, passed away at home on August 14, 2016 at the age of 104.

 

She was born in San Geronimo, NM to Rita (Swabacher) and Alfido Gomez.

 

She received her schooling from the Sisters of Loretto. On January, 16, 1939, Mary was united in marriage to Nestor Jose Martinez at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Trinidad, CO.

 

Mary G. Martinez PicMary  liked to cook, bake, quilt, oil paint and was a talented seamstress. She loved to dance, and she and her husband were known as the King and Queen of Tango.

 

She had a great love for her family and all her grandchildren.  Her love not only was for her family but  a special gift extended to all children. 

 

Mary was devout woman of faith.She was a member of Lady of Mt. Carmel in Madrid, CO, Little Daughters of Mary in Las Vegas NM and the Sociedad Senora de Nuestra de Guadalupe in Trinidad.

 

Her presence and ever present smile will be missed by the many who were fortunate to have known her.

 

Preceding her in death are parents, Rita and Alfido Gomez, husband Nestor J. Martinez,  son Joe V. Martinez, daughter Rita Loretta Martinez, and grandchildren, Crystal Trujillo, John Baca, Rita Patricia Martinez , Rita Marie Castillo and sister Pauline Torres.

 

Survivors include children  Nancy (Gilbert) Abeyta, Trinidad, CO, Edward Leslie (Grace) Martinez, Trinidad, CO., Anthony Martinez, Denver, CO, Antoinette Castillo, Trinidad, CO, sister-in-law Jennie Martinez, CO. Springs, CO, 20 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 3PM-7PM at the Comi  Chapel.

Rosary will be recited Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 7PM at the Comi Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10AM at Sebastiani Gym

Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

 

Active pallbearers are Ernest Trujillo, Edward Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Reid Castillo, Steven Martinez and Randy Sandoval.
