In Loving Memory of Archie Victor Crumpton

Archie Victor Crumpton, age 83, died Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Graveside Services were held at 10:00 AM Central Time on Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Texline Cemetery in Texline, Texas with Terrell Jones, Pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

crumptonArchie Victor Crumpton was born on June 23, 1932 in Texline, Texas to Archie Victor Crumpton, Sr. and Gladys Eugene (Mathis) Crumpton. He joined the US Army in October of 1952 and served at Fort Bliss and then at Camp Lucas in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan where he guarded the locks, he transferred to the reserves in October of 1954 and then was honorably discharged in September of 1960. He married Vera Leola (Webster) Crumpton on February 9, 1963 in Clayton, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2012. Archie did various jobs throughout his life. When he married Vera he worked for Warren Evans for a while then moved to town and had a sprinkler business with his nephew Gary Waide. He later went to work for Valley Irrigation in Dalhart until he retired. In addition to his wife and parents, Archie was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Archie May Wyatt, Dorothy Wade, Lela Evans and Betty Damon, 2 brothers; Glen Dale Crumpton and Eldon Crumpton, a grandson; Nathan Holman, 2 grandsons-in-law; Ty Fields and Wade Mayers and a great-great-grandson.

SURVIVORS:

2 DAUGHTERS: Rhonda Holman and her husband Johnny of Sedan, New Mexico and Burla Austin and her husband Rick of Texline, Texas.

8 GRANDCHILDREN: Opie Lindsey and his wife Patty of Sedan, New Mexico, Dawn Conner and her husband Steven of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Gay Lee Massarotti of Trinidad, Colorado, Crystal Jackson of Elgin, Texas, Rayne Arnold and Christina Pogue and her husband Michael all of Amarillo, Texas, Cora Fields of Elk City, Oklahoma and Erica Badillo and her husband Erik of Dalhart, Texas.

23 Great-Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren,

1 BROTHER: Robert Crumpton of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 BROTHER-IN-LAW: Bud Webster and his wife Pat of Silver City, New Mexico.

1 SISTER-IN-LAW: JoDena Gonzales of Midland, Texas.
