Pair Arrested in Alabama for Raton Shooting

Antonio J. Wilson (26) and Bryanna N. Vargas (20) were arrested in Alabama in connection with a shooting on November 3rd in the 800 block of North First Street here in Raton. The Pair had been fighting extradition back to Raton but that battle ended when Colfax County Sheriff’s Office had them brought back to Raton on February 14, by Inmate Transport Services.

According to the criminal complaint Wilson allegedly took a shotgun and a .40 caliber handgun and shot into the house striking Michael Garcia and Miguel Rodriguez. Those individuals were transported to MCMC by private vehicle Garcia with non-life threatening injuries. Rodriguez was later transported to an Albuquerque hospital with more serious injuries.

The pair have been arrested on Colfax County Magistrate Court warrants and charged with the following charges according to the criminal complaints.  (Link to Criminal Complaint Antonio Wilson – Bryanna Vargas)  Vargas was released on February 19 while Wilson remains in custody at Vigil Maldonado Detention Center.

Antonio Wilson, 26, two counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied building (resulting in great bodily harm).

Assault with intent to commit a violent felony (with intent to commit murder.

Two counts of aggravated battery (use of a deadly weapon).

Assault with intent to commit a violent felony (with intent to commit mayhem).

Tampering with evidence (highest crime committed is a Capital 1st or 2nd degree felony),

Five counts of aggravated assault (use of a deadly weapon), a 4th degree felony.

 

Bryanna Vargas, age 20, two counts of conspiracy to shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied building (resulting in great bodily harm).

Conspiracy to assault with intent to commit a violence felony.

Two counts of conspiracy to aggravated battery (use of a deadly weapon).

Conspiracy to assault with intent commit a violent felony (with intent to commit mayhem).

Conspiracy to tampering with evidence (highest crime committed is a Capital 1st or 2nd degree felony)

Five counts of conspiracy to aggravated assault (use of a deadly weapon).
