In Loving Memory of Domenic Pompeo

Domenic Pompeo passed away on December 23, 2015. He passed peacefully after an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother Angelina Pompeo and father Attilio Pompeo his three brothers Louis Pompeo, Albert Pompeo and Fred Pompeo and his only daughter Elaine Pompeo Smith.

Domenic was born in Dawson NM on June 6, 1927 to Attilio Pompeo and Angelina Santucci. He was the third son of 4. His father died when he was 2 years old and he and his brothers were raised by his mother and his maternal grandparents in Maxwell NM. He joined the army at an early age and was stationed in Japan during the US Occupation. After returning from the war he returned to finish his schooling and to graduate from Maxwell High School.

pompeoDomenic returned to Maxwell and his close friends and family during this time he met and married Mary Ann Demcheck in 1951. They settled in the Maxwell area. He worked various jobs before going to work for the New Mexico State Highway Dept. During this time they adopted 2 children a son Steve Pompeo and a daughter Elaine Marie Pompeo.

He retired after 30 + years with the state of NM. He spent the rest of his life at the home in Maxwell until his recent passing.

Domenic is survived by his wife Mary Ann Pompeo of the home in Maxwell. Steve Pompeo and Wife Char of Maxwell 5 Grandchildren Jessica La Rossa and husband Mario of Henderson NV. Stephanie Austin of Raton and husband Alex, Damion Pompeo of Wichita Falls Texas, Tiffani Romero and husband Leroy of Raton NM, John Smith of Raton NM, 9 great grandchildren Kyra La Rossa , Nikos La Rossa, Caiden Austin, Mariana Austin, Peyton Austin, Nova La Rossa , Estrella Austin, Domenic Romero and Christian Romero. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday December 28, 2015 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday December 28, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Maxwell recited by Deacon Ed Olona, Mass of the resurrection will be Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 10: A.M. at the Maxwell High School Gym with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Domenic Pompeo are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
