In Loving Memory of Tony W. Massarotti

Tony Massarotti was born on October 8, 1925 to parents Bill and Anna (Gagliardi) Massarotti of Berwind, Colorado.

After growing up in Cokedale, he graduated from Trinidad High School in 1943 and was drafted into the US Army where he served as a staff sergeant in the 277th combat engineers. Upon return from WWII in 1946, he worked briefly at the coke ovens and then began a 40-year employment with Safeway.

Early in his career as a butcher, he met Marie Adele Mazza and the two married on April 11, 1953. Tony and Marie had three children: Joanna, Marty, and Chris. Tony’s hobbies were baseball, fishing, golf, and winemaking. Tony was very civic-oriented and a devout Catholic.

Tony died peacefully at the Spanish Peaks Veterans Center on November 19, 2015.

Wife Marie, son Marty, brothers Frank Massarotti, Joe Pompia, and sister Lucy Saccomanno precede him in death. Survivors include son Chris, daughter Joanna Goodman, grandchildren Shawn Goodman, Lindsay (Geoff) Joslin, Stephanie (Jeremy) Potter, great grandchildren Jayden and Xylon Potter, brothers Florie (Marie) Massarotti, Michael (Sharon) Massarotti, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
 
Funeral will be held a Monday November 30, 2015 with Rosary at Noon at Comi Chapel followed by Funeral  Mass at 1PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Trinidad.

Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by Ft. Carson Honor Guard. Reception will follow, and will be announced.
