In Loving Memory of Henry Apodaca

Henry P. Apodaca , age 83, passed away peacefully on October 2. 2015. He was born on October 22, 1931 in Raton, New Mexico the son of Matias Apodaca and Isabel Maes Apodaca.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy, Ray, Johnny and Manuel Apodaca. Henry was a beloved husband, daddy and papo. He is survived by wife Zelma Grant Apodaca, daughters Nancy Apodaca, Henrietta Wiltgen and husband Tony and grandchildren Ryan and Mariah Wiltgen. Henry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, family members and many friends.

At the young age of 17, he and a few buddies volunteered and joined the Army. Proudly serving as a Korean Veteran from 1949 to 1953 with the 1st Calvary Division.

apodacaHe married Zelma Grant on June 20, 1954, Together they spent 61 years. He worked for ARF Products for 40 years. He retired and rejoined as a consultant for new owners of the company for five to seven years. Upon retirement he acquired a hobby of woodworking. His hobbies included bowling, dancing, fishing, hunting and golfing. In his later years he enjoyed gambling at casinos and eventually joined the girls at the bingo hall.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW . Henry was a kind, compassionate, caring man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Henry was a blessing to all who knew him.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Church in Raton recited by Frank Cimino.
Mass of the Holy Resurrection will follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Church with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements and a celebration of love for Henry P. Apodaca are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
