The Lady Tigers hosted their Volleyball Homecoming on Saturday playing two different teams as the C-Team and Varsity played Cimarron and JV played Des Moines.

The C-Team started the afternoon out with Cimarron taking the first game of the match. Game two of the match saw an exciting game as both teams swapped the lead and tie the game at 23 before Raton put two good serves together followed by a short volley and scores. Game three was also a close one once again tying the game at 15. Raton was able to pull it out again with some strong play from the back row.

The JV match looked a lot like the C-Team match as Raton lost the first game 25-15. The game was close early on as they tied the game at nine. From there Cimarron took off and with several good serves and volleys and quickly added the score up. Game two was a close one too as the game was tied and several lead changes. As the down to the wire neared the score was tied at 23. Raton put together a rally pulled it out 25-23. Raton took the tie breaker game and started out close but quickly Raton rallied and put together a couple of good runs with strong play at the net and from the back court where they able to keep the ball in play without the mistakes.

The varsity match also started game one out much like the C-Team and JV but with a different result. Raton’s Alina Pillmore was the strong arm at the net and serving in all three games along with Autumn Archuleta, Sophia Maddalleni, Camryn Mileta, Daisy Earle, Natausha Ortega, Montana Trujillo, Jadyn Walton, as Coach Tina Dorrance noted this was a real team effort. She is hoping the winning feeling from this match will give the girls the confidence they need to carry on into the season.

Raton trailed much of game one but once again as the game came down to the wire it was tied at 23. Again good serves and good passes and hits put Raton on top and the win.

Game two and three were all Raton as they pulled out in front early on and kept up the good play. They had their moments when they allowed Cimarron to close in early on but Raton would put the ball in the right places over the net causing the Lady Rams to miss or hit the ball out of bounds.
