Phyllis was very dedicated in caring for people, which was shown through her many years in the nursing profession. Her career began in high school as a candy striper, continuing her education becoming an LPN then an RN. Employment included the Trinidad State Nursing Home, Total Home Health in Trinidad, Medbrook in Trinidad, Miner’s Colfax Hospital in Raton, N.M., Pool Nursing in Denver, Home Dialysis Rose Medical Center in Denver, State Correctional Facility in Walsenburg as well as several home health agencies in Pueblo. Phyllis worked several jobs at a time because of her love for caring for people and she enjoyed her job as a second mom to Regina DeVaul. Even through her last week, she showed compassion for others, as she would call friends and relatives to make sure they were well.

Hobbies and interests included the bow and arrow and rifle shooting as a member of ROTC in high school. She had a love for chickens, cars and Elvis as well as watching her westerns. She adored her flowers and birds, especially humming birds. She was dedicated to St. Faustina and the Divine Mercy of Prayer among other saints.

Phyllis was full of life and could light up a room. She was the most giving person who would give her last dime if needed and always thought about others. We are going to miss her ornery, fun-loving personality along with her big heart and laughter.
