In Loving Memory of Betty L. DeLuca

Betty Louise DeLuca, age 93, passed away, August 9, 2015 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Segundo, Colorado, on June 7, 1922, to Caroline (Genovese) and Philip Mauro.

Betty attended Primero High School graduating in 1940 and was a member of the Primero Girls Basketball State Championship team.

She then attended Colorado State Teachers College, now UNC, receiving her BA Degree in Elementary Education.

On July 15, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Frank A. DeLuca Sr. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Betty was an educator for 35 years.  She began her teaching career at Lincoln School in Sopris, Colorado and then went on to teach at Primero Jr. and High Schools where she also was the coach for the girls basketball team.  Betty also taught at Holy Trinity and Trinidad Jr. High Schools where she retired.

She liked to sew and bake, especially her traditional Italian Christmas cookies.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Catholic Daughters of America.

Betty loved her role as Grandmother to her beloved granddaughter, Sarah.

Her kindness, love and caring will truly be missed.

Preceding her in death are parents, Caroline and Philip Mauro, sisters, Sally Mauro, Mary Armijo, Leola Fouret, and brothers, Albert, Emilio, Paul and Ernie Mauro.

She is survived by her g loving husband of 65 years, Frank of home address, son Frank (Deborah) DeLuca Jr, Aurora, CO, granddaughter Sarah DeLuca, Aurora, CO, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 3PM-7PM at the Comi Chapel.

Rosary will be Thursday, August 13 2015 at 7PM at the Comi Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday , August 14, 2015 at 1PM at Holy Trinity Church.

Entombment will follow at the Resurrection  Mausoleum , Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are Art Cole, Pete DeLuca and Joseph DiGarbo.

Active pallbearers are Jack Christos,  Phillip Mauro, Frank Armijo, Anthony Pachelli, and Albert Mauro.

The family respectfully requests the omission of food, and donations be made to Holy Trinity Church or to the Holy Trinity Academy.
