Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

Flavio Rodriguez, 19, wanted in connection with the Friday, July 24th shooting death of Jacob D. Salas of Raton, turned himself in to Raton Police without incident at approximately 4 pm on Saturday, July 25th.

Rodriguez is being held at the Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center on a one million dollar cash bond set before his arrest by Magistrate Judge Warren Walton.  Rodriguez is charged with First Degree Murder, Tampering with Evidence, and Abuse of a Child and his arraignment date has not been set.

Raton Police responded to the Sommerset Apartments at 1229 State Street about 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon for a shooting that sent 33 year old Jacob D. Salas to Miner’s Colfax Medical Center where he later died from his wounds. 

When officers arrived on the scene they found Salas in the doorway of apartment 115 bleeding heavily from the upper right leg near the groin area. Officers rendered first aid till Raton EMS arrived and took over. 

Police are searching for Flavio Rodriguez (19) in connection with this homicide. An arrest warrant has been issued for Rodriguez who is 5′ 5″ tall and 115 pounds with blue eyes last seen Friday afternoon on the 200 block of Clayton Road wearing blue jeans and a white shirt and shoes with a Raiders logo. Rodriguez is charged with Murder in the 1st degree (Open Count), Tampering with evidence and Abuse of a child. Rodriguez is believed to be armed and dangerous.
