In Loving Memory of Elsie Isabel Martinez

Elsie Isabel Martinez, age 66, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, in Clayton, New Mexico. 

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 24 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 25 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton with Fr. Joel Bugas as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. 

Elsie Isabel Martinez was born on March 2, 1949 in Clayton, New Mexico to Santiago “Jim” Cruz and Mercedes (Padilla) Cruz. A lifetime resident of Clayton, New Mexico, Elsie graduated from Clayton High School and married Ruben Martinez on July 19, 1969 in Clayton. She was very involved in the Ladies Alter Society of the Catholic Church and was a 34 year volunteer of the U.S.D.A. Commodities. Elsie enjoyed her grandchildren, she loved dancing and listening to music, playing board games, cards and cookouts with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; Santiago “Jim” Cruz on May 24, 1993 and her mother; Mercedes Cruz on February 4, 2003. 

SURVIVORS: 

HUSBAND: Ruben Martinez of Clayton, New Mexico. 

1 DAUGHTER: Corina Vandeberg and her husband Greg of Missoula, Montana. 

3 SONS: Clifford Martinez and Christopher Martinez both of Clayton, New Mexico and Casey Martinez of Amarillo, Texas. 

6 GRANDCHILDREN: Mark Anthony, Dylan, Sirena, Isabel, Christopher and Brandon. 

2 SISTERS: Margie Romero and Julia Cruz both of Clayton, New Mexico. 

4 BROTHERS: Jimmy Cruz and his wife Belen of Borger, Texas, Gene Cruz and Tommy Cruz both of Clayton, New Mexico and Alfred Cruz and his wife Rebecca of Stinnett, Texas. 

And numerous nieces and nephews.
