Adelaida Teresa “Della” Smith, age 78, passed away at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home on July 14, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Vigil, Colorado on August 13, 1936, the daughter of Eralia and Telesforo Chavez.
She loved to dance and cook and enjoyed watching soap operas.
Preceding her in death are parents, Eralia and Telesforo, sister Margaret and husbands Joe Montez and Joe Smith.

She is survived by son Raymond Montez, CA, daughters Cathy Montez, Co. Springs, Sheryl Smith, CO. Springs, siblings, Mary (Vincent) Gurule, Denver, Marie “Chris” (Bert) Gutierrez, Denver, Rosebelle (Abran) Lovato, Denver, Manuel Chavez, Trinidad, Connie Chavez, Taos, NM, Louisa Chavez (Mark Eichen) Trinidad, Sam (Joey) Chavez, Denver, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 22, 2015 from 3PM-7PM the Comi Chapel.
Funeral will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 with Rosary at (AM at the Comi Chapel followed by the Funeral Mass at 10AM at Hoy Trinity Church.
Interment with Rite of committal will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Manuel Chavez, Bert Gutierrez, Sam Chavez, Larry Martinez, Ben Aragon, and Mark Eichen .
