In Loving Memroy of LaVon E. Metcalf

LaVon E. Metcalf quietly passed away on June 21, 2015 at the Legacy in Trinidad, with her children by her side.  She  was 87.
 
She was born March 12, 1928 to Norma and Burney Hainlen. LaVon married the love of her life, Sam Metcalf on January 1, 1950 and were married almost 50 years.
 
LaVon retired from Mountain Bell and from Mt San Rafael Hospital. She enjoyed socializing with the McDonald’s Coffee Club, listening to audio books, watching the Hallmark Channel, spending time with friends, bowling, fishing, camping, sewing and crocheting. She especially loved her time with her family.
 
LaVon is preceded in death by her parents, her husband  Sam, daughter Raylene, granddaughter Amy Ortiz and sister-in-law Dorayne Hainlen.
 
LaVon is survived by her three children, Kathy (Robert, her favorite son-in-law) Howell of Trinidad, Chuck (Sue) Metcalf of Livermore, CA, Judi “Bug” Metcalf of Denver. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Lisa Velasquez, Tara (Ryan) Stephens, and Nicole (Jeremy) King; six great grandchildren Tristan, Marissa, Logan, Brooklyn, Emma and Elizabeth “Ellie”, brother Robert Hainlen of Mesa, AZ, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many friends, including  her dear friend, Sandi Herschel.
 
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.  Inurnment will immediately follow at the Masonic Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in LaVon’s name to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or the First Church in Trinidad.
