Veterans Benefit from Quilter’s work

They stitch with care the squares, the triangles, the pieces of material. Stitch by stitch a small shape takes on a bigger shape and soon the gifted hands of these ladies have stitched together a quilt. A quilt that will warm a cold soldiers heart and body as he under go treatment for his ailments in the VA Hospital in Albuquerque.

The ladies stitched for days and together made eight. Eight warm quilts that were donated to the Veteran’s Services here in Raton. Charlene Spicola and Rey Gayton were present at Patchwork Phoenix and were presented the quilts to go to veterans who may need the warmth these ladies have so generously given.

Rey Gaytan drives many of these veterans to the VA Hospital or other location for treatment, while Charlene is in charge of the VA clinic here in Raton.
