In Loving Memory of Gloria J. Mayer

Gloria J. Mayer age 62 passed away June 5, 2015 in Las Cruces, NM. She was born August 3, 1951 in Maxwell, NM the daughter of Ferdinand and Josephine (Gallegos) Pacheco. She was a resident of Las Cruces, NM and former longtime resident of Raton, NM, a member of St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and her sister-in-law Patricia Pacheco.

She is survived by her husband James Mayer of Las Cruces, NM, daughters Julie Berry and husband Chris of Aurora, Colorado, Jennifer Brown and husband David of Pueblo, CO, sons Jonathan Fields and wife Michaela Sanchez Fields of Las Cruces, NM, Jerrod Trueba and domestic partner Natalee Horner of Las Cruces, NM, sister Loretta and husband Francis Rivera of Albuquerque, NM, brothers Ron and wife Leona Pacheco and Tom Pacheco all of Raton, NM, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. 

Gloria graduated from Raton High School and went on to purse a nursing career with the NM State Board of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years. During her academic pursuit of nursing she was elected to the Who’s Who. 

Gloria applied her nursing skills in the community of Raton at the old Miner’s Colfax Medical Center then at the new MCMC where she was an OR manager for many years. There was not one person that was not enlightened by her kindness and loving heart, both professional and personal. She was a giving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother throughout all her years. 

Gloria enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities, at home arts and crafts, going to Casino’s and spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was best known for her loving laughter and her fun sense of humor at both her workplace and personal life. Gloria will be truly missed by many who got to know her over the years and countless others she came in contact with her throughout her nursing career. This is goodbye for now, until we see you again soon. 

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements for Gloria Mayer are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.

    Gloria will be missed we worked a lot of hours together had a lot of laughs and cries. She is now with God.

    Gloria had a wonderful, infectious giggle. It made you smile just hearing it and makes me smile as I remember it. May God bless her family and bring them peace in their sorrow.
