In Loving Memory of George William Evans

George William Evans age 57, passed away on May 18, 2015 at the Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado, with his wife of 21 years, Sara, by his side.
 
George was born in Taos New Mexico December 28, 1957. He followed the family tradition of playing basketball for the Cimarron Rams. His early years were spent in the mountains of Eagle Nest where he spent most of his time hunting and fishing. These activities honed his skills as a guide for hunting and fishing.
 
He met and married Sara (Sally) in January 1993. Together they started “Tall Tales” guide service and opened the bait and tackle shop in Maxwell. Over the years, George managed the Corner Bar, Floyd’s in Las Vegas, New Mexico and worked for the highway department.
 
Besides hunting, George loved riding motorcycles and doing poker runs with Sara and his friends. He was also a black belt in martial arts working with Dan Packard in Albuquerque.
 
George was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Henry Evans, his only son, Bobby Jo Evans in 2006, his brother, Carl Kenny Evans in 1989, his niece Danielle Smoot, and Uncle George and Aunt Tia of Eagle Nest, NM
 
George is survived by his wife, Sara of the home, his step-daughter, Shelly Santos of Albuquerque, his step-son, John Santos of Orlando FL., brothers-in-law Jeff Smoot of Oshkosh, WA, Brad Smoot (Laura) of Albuquerque, nephews Andrew and Robert Smoot, his niece Tamera Getz (Eric) of Houston, TX, whom he loved dearly, his grandson Kyle Santos of Orlando, FL,  his great nieces, Savannah and Carly, the Campanella Family and very special friend, Janice Pascetti.
 
George is missed by his loyal dogs, Feather, Daisy, Paco, Scarlet, Shiloh and his very special dog, Buddy.
 
Services for George W. Evans will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Raton on June 13, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the service.
 
Arrangements and celebration of love for George W. Evans are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
