Tigers Pull Out Last Inning Win in Double Header

By Marty Mayfield

KRTN Multi-Media

It was a interesting game and close double header for Raton and Pecos Monday afternoon as the two teams battled it out at Gabriele Field.

In game one it was tied at two after three innings. Then in the fourth Raton rallied the bats and with hits into center field put five runners over home plate. During that rally Connell Ware put a bunt down the first base line and out ran the attempt to make a play and was safe on first. The Panthers however managed to make contact and scored one in the fifth and two in the sixth to to make it a 5-7 game.

Raton once again called on Ethan Washburn to close that game and the Tigers held fast to keep Pecos from scoring to end the game with a 5-7 score.

In the second game of the double header Raton scored one in the first and then went dry until late in the game. Pecos put two runners over home plate in the third and added one in the fourth before going dry as well. It came down to the seventh inning Pecos lead the game 3-1 when Raton managed to get the bases loaded with no outs and in fine fashion Martin Ortiz flies into left field where the left fielder must have lost the ball in the lights and dropped the ball. Raton managed to get two runs home for the go ahead and the 4-3 win.
