First the game was scheduled for Tuesday but got moved to Monday and it was supposed to be a varsity then JV game at 4:00 p.m. But it ended up being a varsity double header that began at 3:00 p.m. with Raton taking an early lead and putting the ribbons on game with a 16-0 win over the young and inexperienced Santa Rosa Lady Lions in four innings. Natasha Archuleta lead the Lady Tigers from the mound and where she had little trouble throwing “K”s during the first game.

Santa Rosa is in an independent class this year as this is their first year to play softball. Once they have a year or two in the books they will be assigned to District 5AAA with Raton.

After a break in action the second game got under way once again with Raton taking the early lead with the hard bats and aided by a couple of walk offs runs. Santa Rosa did manage to get the bases loaded placed a runner across home plate. Game two however ended early as Raton closed the game on the 10-run rule in the fifth inning.
