In Loving Memory of Louis N. Fernandez

Louis N. Fernandez, beloved husband and father, passed away on March 17, 2015, after a brief illness. Louis was a well-known rancher and had a tremendous devotion and dedication to his Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emily; four daughters Louise & Charles Vigil of Santa Fe, Connie & Kevin Proulx of Santa Fe, Dolores & Don Schnieder of Rio Rancho, Patricia Martinez & Alfred Des Champs of Espanola; along with one son David Fernandez of Denver, CO.; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one sister Theresa Fernandez-Abeyta of ABQ and several nieces and nephews.

He was born north of Farley, NM on August 8, 1928, to the late Anacleto and Felia Fernandez. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons – Tommy Ray and Louis Jr. – his sisters Patsy Gallegos, Berlinda Romero, Mary Armijo, Seferina Archuleta and brothers Joe Fernandez and Ignacio.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springer, NM, recited by the Knights of Columbus on March 20, 2015, 7: 30 pm. Thank you, Knights! Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on March 21, 2015 at 10:30 also at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer. He will be laid to rest at the Springer Cemetery immediately following the mass.

Thank you to the pallbearers: Rafael Hernandez, Joe Fernandez, Sippy Mondragon, Robert Gonzales, Ray Mondragon, and Lawrence Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers: Monte Anderson, Peter Fernandez, Gilbert Balizan, Ralph Hernandez, Mike Quintana, Jeff Mills and Cole Danielson.

The family extends thanks to Father Emmanuel Izuka who will celebrate the mass.
