Motor Home fire on I-25

   Just after 1:00 p.m.Friday, March 6 Raton Fire and Emergency services along with Colfax County Rapid Response responded to a motorhome fire on I-25 at about mile marker 459.

When firefighters arrived on scene the motor home was fully engulfed in flames. The occupants of the vehicle quickly evacuated and were not injured in the mishap. The motorhome was towing a small car that also caught fire and was a total loss.

The motor home was a 2001 Imperial by Holiday Rambler that had been refurbished and was purchased just yesterday for summer vacation trip by Robert Smiley of Queen Creek Arizona.  

I-25 southbound was closed for about 45 minutes while firefighters extinguished the fire. Cause of the fire is unknown.
