In Loving Memory of Ruben DeJesus Gutierrez

It is with profound sadness that the family of Ruben DeJesus Gutierrez announces his passing on February 18, 2015. 

He was born to Elifido and Matilda (Mondragon) Gutierrez in Torres, Colorado on May 26, 1933.

Ruben graduated from Primero High School in 1951 and joined the US Navy on May 28, 1952.  He was a Radar Operator for the USS Rendova and veteran of the Korean Conflict honorably discharged May 22, 1956.  He graduated from Trinidad State Jr College in 1958.

Ruben was the sole proprietor of Ruben’s Conoco from 1968 to 1976 and became an agent for Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company in 1972.  He was also employed by Pizza Hut and C&H Restaurant where he is best remembered for his friendly smile, his loving, caring and generous heart and his wonderful sense of humor. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Freddie, Lloyd, and Elfido Jr. Gutierrez and sisters, Jenny Perez, Ida Roybal and Celia Mondragon.

Ruben married his beloved wife Carmen (Martinez), September 26, 1959.  He was a loving and devoted father to Dennis, Dave and Devona.  5 grandsons Bruce, David, Brandon, and Dustin. 4 granddaughters Devondra,  Brittany, Cory, and Dimree.  3 great grandsons Aaron, Dominyk and Danilo, 2 great granddaughters Leilani and Desirae.

He is also survived by sister, Theresa Duran and sister in law Annie Boyer, numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2PM-6PM at the Comi Chapel.

Rosary will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 7PM at Holy Trinity Church.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church.

Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Kash Alvaro, Dustin Asevedo,   John Boyer,  Ed Griego, David Gutierrez and Lester Larsen. 

Honorary pallbearers Devondra and Dimree Asevedo,   Bruce, Mike, Chuck, Randy, Brittany, Cory Gutierrez, and Randy Griego.
