In Loving Memory of Glenda J. “Mickey” (Farr) Beckner

Glenda J. “Mickey” (Farr) Beckner, age 73, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in Amarillo, Texas. 

The family will receive friends at Hass Funeral Home on Friday, January 9th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Robert Hunt, pastor and Terrell Jones, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Home of Clayton. 

Glenda J. “Mickey” (Farr) Beckner was born on April 1, 1941 in Tahoka, Texas to Hosea Farr and Willie Mae (Ricketson) Farr. Mickey quit school her junior year and married Ferol B. Beckner on December 27, 1957 in Clayton, New Mexico. They moved to Wisconsin while Ferol was in the Army for about two years. They returned to Clayton and Mickey graduated from Clayton High School. They bought and ran the Frosty Bar until Ferol took a job selling life insurance. They moved to Lubbock and then returned to Clayton in 1971 where she ran a successful home daycare touching the lives of many children. After her children got into school she took a job with the Clayton school system which she really loved. She also accompanied Ferol while he announced for the High School football and basketball games for many many years. She later joined Ferol in the insurance business where she worked until she retired. The happiest time of her life was spending each day with Ferol and watching her kids play sports. She enjoyed traveling with friends, hosting the annual new years day bash and many treasure hunts. She loved cooking, golf, Christmas with all the her family, spending time at the cabin and playing bridge with friends. Mickey truly touched the lives of any and all she met. She loved life, loved laughter, always had a big smile and an open heart for all with a deep love for this community. Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters; Naomi Hight and Shirley Funk and 4 brothers; Clark Farr, James Farr, W. H. Farr and Kenneth Farr. 

SURVIVORS: 

HUSBAND: Ferol Beckner of Clayton, New Mexico. 

1 DAUGHTER: Kelly Alsup and her husband Brian of Clayton, New Mexico. 

3 SONS: Kyle Beckner and his wife Robin of Clovis, New Mexico, Coby Beckner and his wife Sharla of Clayton, New Mexico and Cory Beckner and his wife Lorie of Dalhart, Texas. 

13 Grandchildren 

7 Great-Grandchildren 

4 SISTERS: Betty Beckner and her husband Weldon of Arlington, Texas, Billie Smith and Cordie Dillard and her husband Joe all of Waco, Texas and Vonda Shaw and her husband Dave of Boise, Idaho. 

And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
