In Loving Memory of Vera N. Kennedy

Vera N. Kennedy was born on Sept 23rd, 1934 in MontNe, Arkansas and left this earth to live for eternity on November 14. 2014.

Vera was the sixth of nine children of Addie and Martha Kropf. She lived her 80 years in the community she was raised in, Capulin and Des Moines.

She married John R. Kennedy on June 25, 1953 in Raton, N.M. John and Vera lived a full and happy life together for 52 years. Together they raised five children. 

Vera was a contract mail carrier for 33 years and the Avon lady for 45 years. She loved and lived life to the fullest, enjoying gardening, puzzles, dancing and a good joke. “She ain’t ever had too much fun”.

Vera is survived by her children, Barbara (Leo) Trujillo, Karen Lusk,(Ronnie) Cindy (Max) Valdez, John M. Kennedy (Kelly) and Gina (Vince) Rivera. She has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Naida Munden, Betty Fager and Linda Foster. In-laws, Margaret Anne Crow and Ruby Kropf, Bill Kennedy and Dick (Elaine) Kennedy. Many nieces and nephews and a whole community who loved her dearly.

A celebration of her life will be on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Des Moines School

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Heifer Project in care of Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines or the Des Moines EMS Service. Please wear bright party clothes to honor her colorful spirit.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Vera N. Kennedy are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
