In Loving Memory of Fermin E. Lopez

Fermin E. Lopez age 77, of Raton, NM, passed away Friday August 22, 2014 in Raton. He was born September 26, 1936 in Coyote, NM, the son of Tony and Rebecca Salazar-Lopez. Fermin was a twenty year Veteran of the United States Air Force, has worked as a coal miner for ten years and was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton. He was a past member and exalted Ruler of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved Golf, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Toni Lopez and sister Polly Jaramillo. Fermin is survived by his wife Stephanie of the home, one daughter Lori Clark of Dallas, TX, two step-daughters Melissa Goetsch Medina and husband Stevie of Raton, NM, and Joanna Self and husband Jonathan of Clovis, NM. One son Leonard L. Lopez and wife Penny of Raton, NM. Two sisters Inez Lopez of Salt Lake City, UT, and Ruthann Ortiz and husband Rudy of Price, UT. One brother Joe Lopez of Layton, UT. 
Grandchildren Jamie and Ashley Lopez; Jeremy, Anthony, and Nicholas Clark; Lakken, Halle and Kira Medina; Katelyn Self and great grandchildren Tyson, Colton, and Cooper.

Visitation will be Thursday August 28, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 A.M. Friday August 29, 2014 at St. Patrick;s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.

Funeral services and celebration of love for Fermin E. Lopez are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
