In Loving Memory of Albert B. Garcia

Albert B. Garcia (92) went to be with his Lord on August 25, 2014. Albert was born June 14, 1922 in Los Narahjos, NM to Eva (Valdez) & Louis Garcia. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines Theater of War receiving an Honorable Discharge. Upon returning home he went to work at the family ranch & coal mine in Bon Carbo, Colorado. In 1947 he moved to Springer NM to work for Frontier Power & Light, (which later became Springer Electric Co-op), where he worked for 41 ½ years to the age of 65. It was there that he met and married the love of his life Alice (Martinez) Garcia. Albert loved to hunt, fish, camp, golf, bowl & water ski. He was a loving, caring, and giving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, great-great grandfather,& brother. He was quite the jokester as he always stated that the nation was celebrating his birthday by putting out their U.S. Flags on June14 (Flag Day). He so enjoyed the Avenue of Flags at the Court House. Albert & Alice was a member of St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents Eva & Louis Garcia, his son Bennie Garcia, grandson Bennie Garcia Jr, brothers, Arthur, Joe & Ernie Garcia, sisters Felia Fernandez, & Viola Ramirez. Sister-in-laws Julia Cordova, Flora Salazar, brothers-in-laws Andy Armijo, Lee Cruz, Arthur Valdez, Augustine Fernandez, & Frank Torrez, and son-in-law Larry Medina.

Albert is survived by this loving wife of 66 years Alice Garcia. Son Albert (Carol) Garcia Jr. of Raton. Daughters Gloria (Delbert) Rose of San Antonio TX, & Jane Medina of Raton. Nine grandchildren, Kevin (Carol), David (Toni), Garcia, & Tammy (Richie) Gonzales all of Raton. James (Jessica), Manuel, & Paul Garcia of Odessa, TX. Donalisa Medina of Clovis, NM, Steven (Shannon) Medina of Hondo, TX., & Nathan (Chantelle) Medina of Raton. 25 Great-grandchildren and 5 Great-Great grandchildren. Daughter in-law Juanita (Cruz) Garcia of Odessa TX, Brothers Louie (Angie) Garcia of Pueblo, Co., & Pete Garcia of Trinidad, Co. Sister Josie Torrez of Colorado Springs, Co. Brother in-laws Johnny Ramirez of Trinidad, Co, Camilo(Jr.) Cordova, Gilbert (Julia) Martinez Raton, John (Ernestine) Martinez of Springer. Sister-in-laws Nancy Valdez, Dolores (Donnie) Fernandez of Raton, Nora Cruz of Springer, Viola (Manuel) Avila of Albuquerque NM. Mary Garcia of Trinidad, Co. Several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Alderette Funeral Home Chapel. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday August 30th at 9:30 a.m. by Deacon Tom Alderette, with a Solemn Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A dinner will be held following the services at the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
