In Loving Memory of Elida Valdez

Elida Valdez, age 78, died Friday, August 8, 2014 at her home in Clayton, New Mexico. 

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 11 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton with Fr. Joel Bugas, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. 
Elida (Carrasco) Valdez was born January 19, 1936 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Erculano Carrasco and Jesusita (Valenzula) Carrasco. She married Jose Lourdes Valdez in 1959 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1986. They moved to Clayton in 1970 and Elida was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton. She was famous for her Tamales and Empanadas. Her family was always the most important thing to her and she was always their biggest fans. Elida loved to be a hostess to anyone that was a guest in her home. She loved gardening and always had a smile on her face. In addition to her husband Elida was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Beto Valdez, a grandson; Rogelio Valdez, Jr. and a great-grandson; Gabriel Valdez. 

SURVIVORS: 

4 DAUGHTERS: Elsa Arguello of Odessa, Texas, Rose Cardenas and her husband Robert and Berta Valdez all of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Becky Valdez of Ojinaga, Mexico. 

4 SONS: Jose Valdez and his wife Susan of Clayton, New Mexico, Roger Valdez and his wife Tammy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Martin Valdez of Clayton, New Mexico and Maurilio Valdez and his wife Silvia of Odessa, Texas. 

1 STEP-SON: Jorge Valdez and his wife Evelia of Raton, New Mexico. 

28 Grandchildren 

23 Great-Grandchildren 

4 SISTERS: Socorro Vasquez, Elfida Carrasco, Lupe Ramirez and Carmen Tenerio.
