Relay for Life 2014

Preparations have been going on all year as the Colfax County Relay for Life committee prepares for this year’s event, which is themed “Paint the Town Purple”. 

Teams have been raising funds all year to help support cancer patients with expenses and travel. This year the goal is to reach over $40,000. 

The year’s activities will culminate with a shortened event at Tiger Stadium July 18 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Below is the schedule of events and it is hoped by event planners that as many cancer survivors who can will show up for the reception Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. 

 

Relay starts a 4pm.
 
5pm – Survivors Reception
5:30 -Survivor & Caregiver Speakers – Nina Padilla / Chantle Gutierrez
5:45- Opening Ceremonies
Presentation of the Colors
National Anthem / Pledge of Allegiance – Estrella Vargas
Welcome -Jami Esquibel / Event Chair
Representative of City of Raton
Invocation-Rev. Adrianne Coleman 
A few words from ACS staff  _ Manuel Luna / Katie Harlin

6:30 – Survivor Lap

Dark- Luminaria ceremony
 
Midnite- Raise your Glass Party / Closing Ceremonies
 
Throughout the evening : Continuous Music (Nobie Gomez) , Zumba session, Volleyball, Ladder Ball, Jumping Castle, Cake Walk, Lap Beads, Face Painting, Hoola Hoop contest, Physical Fitness challenges, dancing and more
 
Food: Barbeque : Hamburgers & Hotdogs   Posole after the Luminaria Ceremony and at 11PM Pancake “Late night” Breakfast
 
Lot’s of other snack type foods at Team Campsites

The goal this year for Relay is to raise more than $40,000 to honor more than 250 cancer survivors.
