Erlinda V. Ortiz age 87, of Raton, passed away Monday June 2, 2014 in Raton. She was born July 23, 1926 in Raton, NM, the daughter of Andres and Aurora Brama-Gonzales. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, Erlinda loved praying the Rosary which she did every day, loved playing bingo and loved her Denver Broncos.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Chris Ortiz, son Albert, daughter Lori Ann, sister Eva and granddaughter Erlinda. Erlinda is survived by one daughter Eva Ortiz of Raton, six sons, Larry Lucero, Anthony “OD” Ortiz and wife Cecilia, David Ortiz and wife Carmen, Richard Ortiz and wife Cora, Andy Ortiz and wife Rene all of Raton, NM, and Gerald Ortiz of St. Louis, MO. One sister Lena Turner of Springer, NM, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. Special brother-in-law Alex Ortiz and wife Martha, brother-in-law Joe Ortiz and wife Louise, and Precides and husband Eddie Cordova all of Raton. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday June 8, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday June 9, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 9:30 with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.
