In Loving Memory of Richard Alton Maness

Richard Alton Maness, III, age 57, died Thursday, May 29 in Amarillo, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Richard A. Maness, III was born on November 22, 1956 in Springer, New Mexico to Bob J. Maness and Caroline Marie (Johnson) Maness. He was raised near Gladstone, New Mexico and graduated from Clayton High School in 1974 and later from West Texas State University with a B.S. in Agriculture business and Economics. Richard worked as a Banker most of his life serving as Vice President, Branch Manager and Senior Vice President for Winter Garden Production Credit, Vice President for Texas Production Credit Association, Senior Vice President and Senior Loan Officer for First National Bank of Walsenburg, Colorado, Manager of Loans and Operations for Trinity Credit Union in Trinidad, Colorado and as the Community Banking President for Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in Dalhart. Since 2006 Richard had been self employed as a financial consultant. Richard married Gayle VanPelt on September 20, 2003 in Clayton, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Delia Lillian Johnson in 1985, David Johnson in 1995, Richard Alton Maness, II in 1990 and Lela Vianna Maness in 2001, by an aunt; Billie Alice Jackson and an uncle; Jr. Heppard.

WIFE: Gayle Maness of Dalhart, Texas.

MOTHER: Caroline Maness of Amarillo, Texas.

FATHER: Bob Maness of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 SISTER: Jackie Jacobs and her husband J. W. of Rochelle, Texas.

3 UNCLES: Lloyd Maness and his wife Sue of Yeso, New Mexico, Don Maness of Reserve, New Mexico and John Jackson of Kenton, Oklahoma.

2 AUNTS: Bonnie Heppard of Kenton, Oklahoma and Vicki Hildreth and her husband Tommye of Lafayette, Colorado.

and numerous cousins.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Farmers & Stockmans Bank in Clayton or to the First State Bank in Dalhart, Texas for assistance with Medical Expenses and Final Expenses.
