In Memory of Lawerence Dallas

After a long illness with COPD “Larry” Dallas was called home to our Lord. Born January 15, 1934 in Amistad NM. He was an avid basketball player. In 1952 Maxwell won the State basketball championship. He served in the US Naval Air from 1955 thru 1957 doing his basic training in San Diego, CA. Then he transferred to Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, WA. After returning to Raton Larry worked at Coca-Cola bottling company, co-managed the Heap-A-Burger drive in, co-owned Raton Dairy King and owned and managed Larry’s Drive. By 1964 he was employed by Sinton’s Dairy. In 1970 he was working for BNSF railroad until his retirement then choosing to make Raton his home.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ben Dallas of Maxwell, NM, brother Lonnie Dallas of Taos, NM, sister Norine Slade of Raton and his 2nd born daughter Patti J. Dallas of Albuquerque, NM leaving us on March 14, 2013 also two nephews and two brother-in-laws.

Larry is survived by his son Buddy Dallas of Albuquerque, NM, daughter Penny Dallas of Albuquerque, NM and daughter Paula Dallas Palmer of Rio Rancho, NM, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with one great grandson in May of 2013. Also the mother of his children and his care giver for 3 ½ years, Lilia Padilla Encinias of Raton, NM his sister Lucile Harris of Raton and family, sister Anita Miller of Subtle, KS and family, brother Harvey Dallas and wife Donna of Amarillo, TX and family, sister-in-law Emma Dallas of Espanola, NM. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

At his request immediate cremations has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Thank you to Amber care for his nursing needs. All were wonderful. He especially looked forward to Hannah and Darlene’s nursing visits and little “goody snacks”. Thank you to special neighbors Ed and Jennie Salazar who were always ready to give a needed hand with a smile. A special thank you to granddaughter Jaymi Chavez who also helped to care for her granddad.

Last but not least a big thank you to those who stopped by to chat awhile or send him a card. He enjoyed that so much. Also thank you to the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral Home for their care for our loved one and their care and help with funeral arrangements.
