Raton City Commissioners met Monday afternoon in a quick meeting to handle some last minute city business before the end of the year.

Commissioners approved the November financials noting an increase in the gross receipts by 2.25% over this time last year.

They also approved budget adjustment #4. City Manager Butch McGowen noted that City Clerk Tricia Garcia would be out some this next year on maternity leave and that he was making provisions to handle that absence with temporary help.

After no public input or input from the commissioners they approved Ordinance 987, the Raton Natural Gas franchise ordinance. There are no changes to the ordinance and it will be valid for a period of 25 years.

Mark Kossler was then appointed to the airport board. Commissioner Mantz noted that she as well as many others had met with the Governor’s counsel and Department of Transportation secretary to discuss Amtrak. She noted that they had a concern with some of the numbers that Burlington Northern had supplied.

Filing day for next year’s municipal election is January 7, 2014 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Commissioners will meet again on January 14, 2014 at 6:00 pm.
