Cordelia J. Montoya
(January 17, 1963 – December 14, 2013)
Cordelia J. Montoya age 50 passed away December 14, 2013 in Raton, NM. She was born January 17, 1963 in Raton the daughter of Joe and Helen Bernal Garcia. She was a resident of Raton and a member of St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Raton High School in 1981 and later Trinidad State Junior College graduating with honors. She went on to own and operate the Golden Comb where she worked as a cosmetologist and licensed beautician.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Andrea Montoya, brother Joseph Garcia, nephew and Godson Justin Garcia, paternal grandparents Jacob and Florence Garcia, maternal grandparents Jose L. Cordelia Bernal, cousins Ernie Bernal and Johnny Ray Garcia.
She is survived by her daughters Amanda Alderette and Michael, Erika Montoya, son Willie Montoya, parents Joe and Helen Garcia, sister Lorraine Garcia, brother Steve Garcia and Laurie all of Raton, grandchildren Latiesha Alderette, Aliana Alderette, Jerry Wheeler, Margarita Montoya and Illah Montoya, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held Monday December 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Larry Guara. Mass of the Resurrection take place at 10:00 a.m. with Father John Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of committal and interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements for Cordelia J. Montoya are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home of Raton.
