Roger William Tompkins, age 69, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at his home in Roy, New Mexico.

Cremation has taken place and the family will hold a Rosary followed by Mass at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Roy School with Fr. John Brasher officiating.

Roger William Tompkins was born on August 22, 1944 in Dunsmuir, California to Raymond Tompkins and Lorraine (Rittenhouse) Tompkins. After graduating High School he joined the US Marine Corps where he served from 1962 through 1967 during the Vietnam War. After returning from the US Marine Corps Roger became a New Mexico State Police Officer serving in the Tularosa, Alamogordo and Mescalero area before returning to his home town of Roy where he served in the Roy, Wagon Mound and Las Vegas area until he retired after over 20 years in 1990. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a sister and by a son, both as infants.

Wife: Maria Alicia Tompkins of Roy, New Mexico.

4 DAUGHTERS: Amanda Denier of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Christina Scott, Katherine Tompkins and Jennifer Tompkins all of Roy, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Matthew Denier of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Jonathan Tompkins of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

1 SISTER: Marian Holmes of California.

2 BROTHERS: Tammy Lee Basquez of Wisconsin and Timothy Tompkins of Texas.
